How to Hire the candidates who matches your Company Culture

Company culture is made up of the goals, missions, vision and values of every employee. Job seekers today, are placing more importance on company culture, hence finding a candidate who can adopt your values and culture is very crucial for all.

To assess the candidates culture fit is quite different from measuring up skills and potentials from a CV.

Company Values Must be communicated to the Candidates during Hiring, so that when the new job starts, these values will be already instilled in them.

Interview flow must be steered towards a conversation rather than a rigid question-answer round. This will lead to avoid rehearsed answers from the candidate. Open ended questions give an opportunity to the candidate to think on the spot and speak freely too, allowing their personality to show up.

Here are some sample interview questions that as an interviewer you can ask to assess culture fit of a candidate:

  • ·              What is the ideal work environment as per you?
  • ·              What inspires you in life?
  • ·              Tell something about when you worked as a part of Team.
  • ·              What is the best you like about our company?
  • ·              What will be the best practices you would bring with you from another organization or past experience?
  • ·              Tell something about that which is not mentioned in your CV about you.
  • ·              How can the Success be defined? 

Involve 3-4 key employees in the hiring process rather than relying on one interviewer.  This will help distinguishing from a personal connection of an individual interviewer. Let Hiring process be a two-way assessment where the candidate can have a better feel of your company and about the team too, they might work with if selected.

Culture fit is not about hiring people from same background or are all the same, its about finding these attributes of your culture fit in candidates from all backgrounds. Hence Rich diverse team of talent is required for matching the company culture.
